Super Seahorse

I found two metal Super Seahorse emblems off of a old Johnson boat motor.. I believe they are from the 1940's..very vintage.. I think they originally were silver..but had this blue paint on them.  I had the perfect place for one.. in the bathroom I just did the mosaic on.. Real close to the seahorse mosaic.  Perfect !

VW Love

We traded in our 2004 red vw convertible in 2012 for the new Murano convertible... and  we  learned how much we missed the old bug.. It had sentimental value.. since it was a surprise 30th wedding gift from my sweet Hubby..and every time we saw a VW convert...we kinda felt a pain in our heart...so last month we bought a new 2013 Vw , Yellow this time. LOVE it...it is so much nicer than the 2004 models..so we are happy about that..We kept the Murano, it is so nice for the long road trips.. the bug is great scooting to town. And all the yellow just puts some sunshine in your mood. We are so happy to have a bug back in  our heart...and she is fun.. we call her Mellow Yellow. Since the Murano color is called Carribean Pearl, we just call her Pearl. We just know if you want some fun in your life.. get a convertible.. and hit the road.. Key West is a great destination...so long red buggy, you made us some wonderful memories ...oh, and Don's first car, a 1959 VW.. The bug that started my BUG LOVE !

Denim & pearls

Love the look of a denim jacket over a dress or with a tee.. dress it up, go casual.. I had a new Bill Blass Denim jacket that I never wore. Then suddenly I started seeing denim vests and jackets all over the place.. I took that  jacket out of the closet, and I bleached it, washed it, put some sand paper to it, to age it.. even  to a razor blade to make some holes.. It looks well worn and comfy.. THEN to take it up a notch.. I sewed pearls on the lapels and the  pocket flaps.. during my "aging" process some how a button came off the pocket. But I added a  cute little pin over the  pocket and  no one notices the button is gone.. I found me a denim vest online this week.. can't wait for it to arrive, so I can sew some more pearls.. I have some sundresses to wear with it this spring and summer.

Bathroom Mosaic

While at the beach for the month of Jan.  I had way too much time to think..as I sat on the beach and gazed at the ocean... SO I thought.. I really should  mosaic the bathtub/shower surround.. It won't  take that long..So I started buy 12"x12" sheets of glass in beachy color.. Then I had to make some notes of what designs to put on the wall for a pattern..OF course it will be beach theme. Fast forward to  Feb  when we got home, and I started buying more glass.  One day it hit me..THIS Is going to take a long time.. maybe I do not want to tackle this...but the guilt of all the money I already spent on all the glass.. I refused to chicken out. So back to the project...
I got my pattern ideas. Don prepped the walls..I primed the wall area, and cut, nipped and tumbled glass.. mannny manny sheets of glass. I didn't keep track but I  will guess close to 30 sheets. Then I had to use a projector to enlarge the patterns onto the wall, traced them off.. and Feb. 14 I started gluing 1/2 round glass marbles to the  walls..Then when I  did enough of those to suit me..I started  doing the pattern fill in. Here are pix of  the progress.. JUST counting glass prep, patterns, and gluing and grouting and sealing the walls... it took 132 hours. This doesn't count the wallpapering of the ceiling with anaglyta paper, painted it white, then I wanted it to look like  old tin ceiling, so I used some dry brushing of  rub n buff..  hated it.. soo then I decided to cover the entire thing with rub n buff.. It was soo silver..looked like tin..but NOT a beachy thing..so I had to re-prime it and repaint it white. I revamped the  ceiling fan/light, painted it, and added shells, also used a glitter technique to  cover the faucets, and knobs in thick glitter that does not come off. No shedding.. also we did not count the time of taking out the old tile floor, and floor trim, re sanding and repainting the trim and Don putting down a new laminate floor, etc.. It was an entire redo...I reallly was tired of that room ..but love it. I sat on a 5 gal bucket to  get to some areas, and other areas, Don had built me a platform that rested over the jacuzzi tub. It was still a long backbreaking process..and I would NOT to it again.. SO I will enjoy it as long as we live in our house. I was totally finished by March 31 ! ....and on to my next project !
